Collection: Q’ij Tat (keyj - tat) Line - Father Sun

Q’ij Tat (keyj - tat) Line - Father Sun

The original purpose of the huipil (traditional blouse) was to distinguish Maya ethnic groups throughout Guatemala. There are 21 existing Maya languages with their own Maya spirituality, culture and style. The women of Chichicastenango have historically used huipiles with sun rays around the neck to express gratitude to the sun and this is now a cultural marker of their town. Anywhere they go in Guatemala, they walk in proudly knowing they're representing Chichicastenango.
